Pediatric Dietitian | Childhood Nutrition Counseling Covered by Insurance
You deserve a calmer table so your child can eat well without
every meal
turning into a negotiation, without a single food fight standing in the way.
It's time to handle picky eating or your child's weight without the constant worry that follows every skipped vegetable, so you can feel steady and confident feeding your family.
You're in the
right place if you need pediatric nutrition covered by insurance and...
Your toddler will only eat quesadillas and stages a full protest over anything green.
You're already learning to feed yourself differently and want the same steadiness for your kids.
A doctor mentioned your child's weight and you left the office with more worry than direction.
You want guidance that speaks your language, culturally and literally.

It's not just the picky eating, it's the quiet fear that you're somehow getting this wrong as a parent.
Picky eating and growth concerns are common, workable, and rarely about willpower on either side of the table. Of course dinner feels tense when every bite feels like a test. With the right support, this does not have to stay a nightly standoff. That begins here.
What if you could go from:
- Dreading dinner to actually enjoying it together?
- Worrying over every skipped vegetable to trusting your child's appetite again?
- Feeling judged about your child's weight to having a clear, kind plan forward?
- Making separate meals for everyone to sitting down to one table?
That's exactly what
Pediatric Nutrition is designed to do.
This work creates space for picky eating, growth concerns, and childhood weight to be handled with patience instead of pressure.
We focus on realistic feeding strategies, small sustainable swaps, and a plan that fits your household so you can respond to your child's eating instead of fighting it.
As things settle in, mealtimes get calmer and your child's relationship with food starts to feel lighter too.
Here's How
We'll Help You
Step 1: We map what's actually happening at the table
We start with your child's real eating patterns, your family's routine, and your culture's food, not a generic feeding chart.

Step 2: We build small, doable shifts
Together we introduce realistic swaps and strategies that fit into meals your family already eats, so nothing feels like starting from scratch.

Step 3: We keep adjusting as your child grows
Your plan evolves as tastes, routines, and growth change, so you walk away with tools that keep working long after our sessions end.

hello there!
I'm
Isbel Cano, RDN, and I specialize in
pediatric nutrition for busy, bicultural families, and I take insurance
I've spent years helping parents move from mealtime stress to steady confidence, often the same women I've already helped rebuild their own relationship with food.
Many of the parents I work with are doing everything right, until picky eating or a growth concern made them doubt themselves.
This work exists to offer patient, culturally aware support so you don't have to figure out your child's plate alone.
You don't have to handle
mealtime battles
on your own.
Let's create a calmer table as you move through picky eating, growth concerns, or whatever's happening at dinner right now. If you're ready for support that fits your family, schedule your consultation and let's begin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there such a thing as a pediatric dietitian?
Yes. A pediatric dietitian focuses specifically on children's growth, feeding, and nutrition needs, which are different from an adult plan in almost every way.
When should a child see a dietitian?
Anytime picky eating, a growth concern, or a doctor's comment about weight is causing stress at home. There's no need to wait for things to feel like an emergency before getting support.
Does insurance cover seeing a dietitian?
Most of my clients already have insurance that covers pediatric nutrition sessions. We'll help you check your specific coverage before you get started.
How much does an average dietitian cost?
Costs vary widely by provider. Here, an initial session is 150 dollars and follow ups are 75 dollars, and most sessions are covered by insurance once your benefits are confirmed.
Is it better to see a dietitian or a nutritionist?
A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, like me, has completed accredited clinical training and licensing, which matters most when a child has a medical or growth related concern alongside picky eating.
Do sessions happen in person or virtually?
Most families work with me virtually, from wherever is easiest for your household, with in person sessions available too. Either way, the plan is just as personalized.
What is your cancellation policy?
Life with kids is unpredictable, and we ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. (24-hour notice or a $30 no-show fee)
What if my child is a very selective eater and refuses almost everything new?
That's one of the most common concerns I see, and it's rarely a phase that needs to be forced through. We build a plan with small, low pressure steps that respect where your child is right now.
You already know another lecture about vegetables isn't going to fix dinner.
A calmer table is possible, for your child and for you. This is a space built around your family's real routine.
